ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Confederados

Confederados are people who lived in the southern United States during the Civil War. They were on the side of the Confederacy, which was fighting against the Union. After the war, some of them were angry and didn't want to accept the new laws and ideas from the Union. So, they left their homes and moved to places like Brazil or Mexico. There, they formed their own communities and tried to keep their old ways of life, like slavery, even though it was now illegal. They called themselves "confederados" because they were still loyal to the Confederacy, even though it didn't exist anymore.
