ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Confiscation

Confiscation is when someone who has something that they are not supposed to have or that they got in a bad way, like stealing, has it taken away by someone who has the power to do so. It's like when your mom takes away your toy if you didn't share it nicely with your friends.

For example, if someone is selling drugs and the police catch them, the police can take away the drugs and any money that person made from selling the drugs. This is called confiscation. The police do this because drugs are bad for people, and it's against the law to sell them.

When something is confiscated, it means it has been taken away forever or until some conditions are met. So, if your mom takes your toy away, you might get it back if you apologize and behave better.

Confiscation is a way for people in charge to stop others from doing bad things and to make sure that everyone is following the rules.
