Conflict of laws

Conflict of laws is what happens when different states (countries or provinces) have different laws about the same thing. Imagine that you got married in one state, but then you move to a different state. The two states might have different laws about things like how much money you might get in a divorce, or who gets custody of your kids. Conflict of laws is when you have to figure out which of the two laws applies to you.
