Congress is a group of people that are elected by the people to represent them. They make the laws for the country. When the people of the United States want to change something or make a new law, they tell their representatives in Congress what they want. The representatives then work together with other members of Congress to decide if that new law or change should be made. Congress is a really important part of our government because they make sure that everyone in the United States is being treated fairly and is kept safe.
