Congressional Black Caucus

Do you know what a club is, like a sports team or a group you can join? The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is like a club of politicians who all have something in common - they are all Black and they work in the United States Congress.

The CBC was started in 1971 by a group of Black members of Congress who wanted to work together to make sure the issues that were important to Black people would be heard and addressed in Congress. They wanted to make sure that things like better education, jobs, and health care were available to Black people.

The CBC is made up of Black members of the House of Representatives and the Senate. They meet regularly to talk about important issues affecting their communities and to work together to come up with solutions. They also work to make sure that other members of Congress understand the challenges faced by Black people and to make sure that Black people are represented in important decisions made by Congress.

In summary, the Congressional Black Caucus is a club of Black politicians who work together to make sure that issues that are important to Black people are heard and addressed in Congress, and to make sure that Black people are represented in important decisions made by Congress.
