Okay, so members of the United States government were doing something they weren't supposed to be doing. They were secretly selling weapons to another country called Iran, even though there were rules that said they couldn't do that. And then, they were using the money they got from selling those weapons to help some people in another country called Nicaragua fight their own government.
Some people found out about this and were very angry, and they wanted to know more. So, the government had a special group of people called a Congressional committee look into what happened.
This committee was made up of some special members of Congress who had a lot of experience and knowledge about the government and the law. They asked lots of questions and looked at lots of documents to figure out what was going on.
They found out that some really important people knew about what was happening, but didn't tell anyone else. This was against the rules, and it made a lot of people upset.
The committee's investigation helped make sure that everyone knew what had happened, and it helped make sure that things like this wouldn't happen again in the future.
