Consent of the governed

Consent of the governed means that the people of a country must agree to the laws and rules that the leaders make. It is like the people are voting and saying “yes” when they agree with something that the leaders do. If the people don’t like something that the leaders do, they can vote “no” and the leaders have to change it. It also means that the people have a say in what the leaders do and can speak out if they disagree.
