Conservation and restoration of historic gardens

Imagine there is a really big and beautiful garden that was created a long time ago. This garden is really old and some parts of it may be broken or damaged over time. Also, some plants and trees may have grown too big and may not be safe or healthy anymore.

To make this garden look pretty and healthy again, people can do two things: conservation and restoration.

Conservation means taking care of something so that it stays the same. When people use conservation to take care of an old garden, they are trying to keep it how it was made a long time ago.

To do this, they may need to clean up the garden by removing any dead plants and trash. They also may need to trim or prune the trees and plants so they look like they did when the garden was first made. Finally, they might need to put in new plants that look just like the old ones so that the garden stays looking the same.

Restoration means fixing something that has been broken or damaged. When people use restoration to take care of an old garden, they are trying to make it look like it was brand new again!

To do this, they may need to fix any broken fountains, statues or other garden features that may have fallen apart over time. They might also need to add new plants to replace ones that have died or been removed. Finally, they might add new features that were not in the original garden to make it even better.

Conservation and restoration can both help keep old gardens looking beautiful and healthy for many years to come!
