ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Constant voltage method

The constant voltage method is a way of keeping the voltage across something the same. Let's say you have a toy car that needs AA batteries to run. If you put two new batteries in the car, the voltage across the batteries will be 3 volts. If you keep running the car for a while, the voltage will start to go down as the batteries start to wear out. With the constant voltage method, you can make sure that the voltage across the batteries stays the same, even when the batteries start to wear out. You can do this by using a device called a voltage regulator. The voltage regulator will adjust the voltage going into the batteries so that the voltage across the batteries stays the same. This is like having a friend who keeps checking your toy car batteries and adding just the right amount of new energy to keep them going strong. That's the constant voltage method!
