ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Constitution Day (United States)

Constitution Day is a special day in the United States where we celebrate the birthday of our Constitution.

The Constitution is like a set of rules that we follow as a country. Just like you have rules in your classroom or at home, the Constitution helps guide us as a whole country.

We celebrate Constitution Day every year on September 17th because that's the day the Constitution was officially signed in 1787. That's a very long time ago!

On Constitution Day, we like to remember the men who wrote the Constitution, like George Washington and James Madison. They worked really hard to create a document that would help guide our country as it grew and changed over time.

We also think about how important it is to follow the Constitution. By following the rules it sets forth, we can make sure that everyone is treated fairly and equally.

So, in short, Constitution Day is a celebration of the rules that we follow as a country, and a reminder of how important it is to respect those rules.
