ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Constructionism (learning theory)

Constructionism is a way of learning that gets you to build things to learn new things. It's all about doing things with your hands and using your brain to figure things out.

Imagine you want to build a tower of blocks. You start by stacking one block on top of another. But then you realize that if you put one block on an angle, you can make the tower even bigger! You experiment and try different angles until you figure out the best way to make your tower really tall.

This is what constructionism is all about - learning through building and experimenting. When you make something, you learn about it in a way that you can't just by reading about it or listening to someone talk about it.

Constructionism is a really fun way to learn because you get to be creative and explore new ideas. Whether it's building with blocks, creating a model of a city, or designing a computer game, constructionism teaches you by doing. So, the next time you want to learn something new, try building it with your own two hands!
