Consumer culture theory

Okay kiddo, do you know what a culture is? It's like a big shared way of doing things or thinking about things in a group of people.

Now, "consumer culture" means that a big way people interact with each other is through buying things, or "consuming" them. This can include things like clothes, toys, food, and even ideas and experiences.

"Consumer culture theory" is when smart grown-ups study how people act and think when they are shoppers or buyers. They want to understand why people buy certain things and how they feel about them.

This helps grown-ups like marketers and business owners make better stuff for people to buy that they will like and want to keep buying. But it can also help us think about how buying and owning things affects our lives and our world.
