Consumption tax

A consumption tax is a type of tax that is charged when you buy something. When you purchase an item, either directly from the store or online, you usually have to pay extra money to the government in addition to the price of the item. This extra money is a consumption tax. The money that you pay in taxes goes to help the government pay for important services like roads, public schools, and public safety.
