Contempt of court

Contempt of court is when someone shows disrespect for a judge or the court. For example, someone might talk back to a judge or laugh during a court hearing. This shows that they do not respect the court or its rules. It is a serious offence and can mean that someone has to go to jail, or pay a fine.
