ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Content validity

Content validity is like a test to see if a toy box has all the right toys in it. Just like you want all your favorite toys, when you take a test, you want all the questions to be about the things you learned. Content validity is a fancy way of making sure that everything on the test is the right kind of thing you're supposed to know, just like all your toys in the toy box are the right kind of toys you like to play with.

To make sure the test has content validity, the people who make the test will look at all the things you're supposed to know and choose questions that cover all those things. Just like your mom and dad put all your toys in the toy box so you can find them easily, the people who make the test put all the questions you need on the test so you can do your best.

So when you take a test, you can know that if it has content validity, all the questions are about the stuff you learned, just like all your toys in the toy box are the ones you like to play with.
