ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Conventional pollutant

Okay little one, do you know what pollution is? It's when we introduce harmful things into the environment, like chemicals or waste, that can make plants, animals, and people sick.

Now, a conventional pollutant is a type of pollution that we have identified as being the most common and harmful to the environment and our health. These pollutants come from things like cars, factories, and power plants that release things like carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides into the air.

These things can cause problems like smog, acid rain, and global warming. It's really important that we try to reduce the amount of conventional pollutants that we release into the environment by using cleaner technologies and finding new ways to produce energy without harming the planet.

So next time you see a car on the road or a factory in your town, remember that they might be emitting these harmful conventional pollutants that we're trying to reduce.
