Convergent evolution is when different species develop similar body parts even though they are not related. It is like if two kids in different parts of the world had a contest to draw the best dog. Even though they have never seen each other, they draw the same kind of dog because a dog has certain features that all dogs have. Convergent evolution works the same way - different species end up with the same features because of the environment they live in and the way they move and hunt for food.
