ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Conveyor belt

Imagine you are in a big factory where things get made. A conveyor belt is like a giant moving road made out of rubber or metal that carries things from one place to another.

Picture a circular track like the ones you see at amusement parks for a train ride. Instead of a train, there are little cars or flat plates on the track. These cars or plates are like shelves that can hold things like toys, boxes, or even food.

The track starts moving, and the little cars or plates start going around and around very slowly. When one of these cars reaches a person who needs to work on something, they can take whatever is on the shelf and work on it.

When they're done, they put it back on the same shelf, and it keeps going around the track. Eventually, the shelf will reach the end of the track or where it's supposed to go, and someone else will take it off to use or pack it up to ship somewhere else.

A conveyor belt is just a really big version of one of these circular tracks with moving shelves. It can move things all around a factory or warehouse, making it easier for workers to move heavy or bulky items without having to carry them themselves.
