Convolution (music)

Convolution is like taking two things and mushing them together to make a new thing. In music, we can take a special sound called an impulse response and mush it together with our music. The impulse response is like a fingerprint of a place where music was recorded, like a concert hall or a church. By mushing it together with our music, we can make it sound like our music was played in that place. It's kind of like magic!
