Cook (profession)

A cook is someone who makes delicious food for people to eat. They work in a special place called a kitchen, where they use tools like pots, pans, and knives to cook ingredients like vegetables, meat, and pasta.

First, they usually have to follow a recipe, which is like a set of instructions for making a certain dish, like macaroni and cheese or spaghetti and meatballs. They use different amounts of different ingredients to make sure everything tastes just right.

They might have to chop up vegetables or meat into tiny pieces, cook them in a pan with oil or butter, and add spices and sauces to give the dish flavor. Sometimes, they even have to bake things like cakes or cookies in the oven.

When they're finished cooking, they put the food on a plate or in a bowl so that people can enjoy it. Cooks work in all kinds of places, from fancy restaurants to your home kitchen where your mommy or daddy might cook your favorite meals.
