Cooling out

Hey kiddo, have you ever felt really hot after playing outside? Well, sometimes when people, horses, or other animals exercise, their bodies get really hot too! That's where cooling out comes in.

When we exercise, our bodies create a lot of heat and our heart starts to beat faster. This is because our muscles are working hard, and they need more oxygen to keep going. But, when we stop exercising, our heart rate starts to slow down, and our body begins to cool down.

Cooling out is when you help your body cool down after exercising. This can be done by doing some light exercises, like walking or stretching, to help get your heart rate down slowly. This also helps to prevent muscle soreness by gradually returning blood flow away from the muscles you just worked.

For horses, cooling out is even more important! Horses have a lot of muscles, and they're much bigger than us. When horses exercise, it can take a long time for their muscles to cool down, and if they cool down too fast it can lead to injury. So, after a hard workout or competition, horse owners will usually walk their horse around and let them relax for a while before putting them back in their stall.

Overall, cooling out is just taking care of your body after exercising so that you can stay healthy and feel good. Remember kiddo, always cool out after you exercise to help your muscles recover!
