ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Coordinate space

Imagine you're playing a game with your friends where you have to find a hidden object in a room. The room is like a big grid with lines going up and down and across. Each line has a number or a letter, and that helps you figure out where you are and where the object is.

The grid in the room is a coordinate space. It tells you where things are by using a system of numbers and letters. These numbers and letters are like instructions to help you find your way around.

In math, we use coordinate space to help us locate things too, like points on a graph. We use two lines, one that goes up and down (vertical) and one that goes side to side (horizontal). Each line has a number, and where the lines cross is the point that we want to locate.

So just like finding the hidden object in the room, we can use a coordinate space to find math objects like points on a graph. It might seem tricky at first, but with some practice, you'll become a pro at finding things on a coordinate space!
