Coptic architecture

Okay, imagine building a house out of LEGO blocks. You can make different shapes and sizes with the blocks, right? Well, people who lived a long, long time ago in Egypt also built their houses and buildings, but they used a special kind of LEGO block made out of stone. They stacked these stone blocks on top of each other to create tall and fancy buildings.

Coptic architecture is a type of architecture that was used by a group of people known as the Copts who lived in Egypt a very long time ago. These buildings were made out of stone blocks that were carved and shaped into different sizes and shapes. Some of these buildings were really big and had lots of details, like carved designs and columns (kind of like pillars) holding up the roofs.

One famous example of Coptic architecture is the Hanging Church in Cairo, which is over a thousand years old! The Hanging Church got its name because it was built on top of an older Roman fortress, so it kind of looks like it's "hanging" over the ruins below. Inside, you can see lots of beautiful artwork and decorations that were added over the years.

So, to sum it up, Coptic architecture is a type of building style used by the Copts in Egypt a long time ago. They used stone blocks to stack and create buildings with lots of details and decorations.
