ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Corm

Corms are underground food-storage organs that plants use. They look like small potatoes and are made of tough, leathery tissue. Plants use them to store food during the winter months when they can't grow. During the spring, the plant will use the corm's stored food to start growing again. The corm will then grow larger and produce new leaves and flowers.
