Cornish Stannary Parliament

Okay kiddo, so imagine if you and your friends made up some rules for a game you were playing. You might have a leader who helps make decisions about the rules and makes sure everyone follows them.

That's kind of what the Cornish Stannary Parliament was like a long time ago in England. People who worked with tin and other metals in the county of Cornwall had their own set of rules and a leader, known as the "stannary warden," to help enforce those rules.

This group was called the Cornish Stannary Parliament because "stannary" means having to do with tin mining, and "parliament" means a group of people who make decisions together.

They would meet up to talk about things like prices for the tin and how to make sure everyone followed the rules. It was kind of like a mini government just for the people who worked with tin in Cornwall.

Nowadays, this group doesn't really exist anymore, but it's still a part of history and people can learn about it to understand how things worked in the past.
