Cornish symbols

Okay, so imagine you're drawing a picture of a castle. You might draw little flags with crosses on them to show that the castle is in England. That cross is called the St. George's cross and it's a symbol of England.

Similarly, in Cornwall, which is a place in England with its own traditions and history, they have some special symbols too. These symbols are like pictures that represent something important to the people who live in Cornwall.

One of the most famous symbols is the flag of Cornwall. It has a white cross on a black background, with a little golden picture in the middle called a chough. That bird is important to the people of Cornwall because it used to be really common there, and it's still a part of the local culture.

Another Cornish symbol is the St. Piran's flag. This one is black with a white cross and is named after a saint who is important to the Cornish people. He was supposed to have been born in Ireland but he ended up in Cornwall, where he became really famous for doing miracles and helping people.

All of these symbols are just ways for the Cornish people to show that they're proud of being from Cornwall and that they want to celebrate their history and traditions. Sometimes people might wear clothes with these symbols on them, or put stickers on their cars or windows, just to show that they're a part of that group.
