Council of Jamnia

The Council of Jamnia was a group of Jewish rabbis who met in the 1st century CE at a town called Jamnia (now called Yavneh) in Israel. The rabbis were trying to decide which religious books, like the Bible, should be in the Jewish faith. They made decisions about which books were holy, and they wrote down laws that they thought were important. After the Council of Jamnia, the books of the Bible were generally agreed upon by Jews.
