Council–manager government

Okay kiddo, so a council-manager government is kind of like when you have a school project and your teacher picks a group leader to help everyone work together. In a council-manager government, a city or town hires a professional manager to help run things and make sure everyone works together.

The manager is kind of like the group leader in your project. They help the city council, which is a group of elected people who make decisions for the city, figure out the best way to get things done like building roads, keeping parks clean, and making sure there is enough money to pay for everything.

While the city council is in charge of making important decisions, the manager takes care of the day-to-day activities and makes sure that things are getting done. They are also responsible for hiring and managing city employees like police officers, fire fighters, and librarians.

Having a council-manager government is a good way to make sure that cities run smoothly because it allows people who are trained in managing cities to do their job, while elected officials get to focus on making important decisions.
