Counterfeiting

Counterfeiting is when people make fake versions of something that is otherwise valuable or expensive. For example, they might make fake copies of money, jewelry, or artwork. Counterfeiting is illegal because it is a type of stealing – people are tricking others into thinking that the fake item is real, so they’re taking away money that would otherwise be spent on the original item. Counterfeiting is a serious crime and it can lead to imprisonment.
