Countermovement is like jumping but you do something first called a "pre-jump" first. Imagine if you wanted to jump as high as you could reach for the cookie jar on the top shelf. You wouldn't just stand there and jump straight up, because you might not get high enough. Instead, you would squat down and jump up, almost like bouncing off the floor. That squatting down part is the "pre-jump", and it helps you get more power to jump higher. That is what countermovement is all about!
