The Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 lets people explore the countryside in England and Wales in special places called rights of way. These special places give people the right to walk, cycle, ride horses, or drive (in a wheelchair, motorbike, or 4x4 vehicle) on certain paths called public paths. Public paths are marked on maps, and they may be a track or a path, or they may even be a road. You can explore these public paths as long as you are respectful of the land and of other people using the path.
