Court of Requests

Okay kiddo, you know how sometimes grown-ups have problems and they don't know how to solve them? Well, there is a special room called a court where people go to ask for help to solve their problems.

Now, think about your toys. Imagine your friend borrowed your toy and he won't give it back. You are feeling sad and you need help to get your toy back. If you go to this special court called the Court of Requests, you can tell the grown-ups what happened and they will help you get your toy back.

The Court of Requests is a very old court in England that existed many years ago. It was a place where poor people could go to ask for help for small problems they had like getting back their toy or maybe getting some money from someone who owed them.

In this court, the judges were chosen from a group of ordinary people who were respected in their community, called the Aldermen. They would listen to the stories of the people who came to them and decide what to do.

So, basically, the Court of Requests was like a helper's room for people who had problems and didn't know how to solve them. It was a way for regular people to get justice and protection, even if they didn't have a lot of money or power.
