Court of the Star Chamber
So, a really long time ago in England, there was a special court called the Court of the Star Chamber. This court was made up of really important people like judges, politicians, and other important folks who were chosen by the king.
The Court of the Star Chamber was different from other courts because it had the power to investigate crimes and punish people for things like spreading lies or causing trouble or disobeying the king.
Sometimes, the people who were punished by the Court of the Star Chamber didn't even know what they were accused of or couldn't have a lawyer to defend them. That's not fair, right?
So, even though the Court of the Star Chamber was supposed to stop people from doing bad things, it wasn't very fair. That's why people started to complain about it and eventually, it was abolished (or gotten rid of).
