Courtyard

Okay kiddo, do you know what a house is? Good! Now, imagine a house that has no roof on top of it, but instead has a really big open space in the middle. That open space is called a courtyard!

Courtyards can be very pretty too! They often have gardens with plants, flowers, and trees that give the space color and shade. Some courtyards even have fountains, statues, or other decorations that make them look like a little oasis in the city or countryside.
