Crash box (stagecraft)

A crash box is like a very sturdy cardboard box that is used on stage to make loud noises, like a crash or explosion! The people who put on plays and shows use them to make the show more exciting and realistic.

It's kind of like if you were playing with toy cars and you smashed them together to make a loud crashing sound - the crash box does that, but way louder! They're usually made out of very thick cardboard or even wood, so they can take a lot of banging without breaking.

Actors and stagehands will use the crash box when they need to make a loud noise on stage - maybe there's a scene where a car crashes or a bomb goes off. When it's time for the loud noise, they'll hit or stomp on the crash box, and it'll make a really loud sound that makes the audience jump!

So basically, a crash box is a special kind of box that makes loud noises and helps make stage shows more exciting and realistic.
