ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Crime Victims' Rights Week

Hey there little one! Do you know what a crime is? It's when someone breaks a rule or law and does something wrong. Unfortunately, sometimes people get hurt or their things get taken away when a crime happens.

During Crime Victims' Rights Week, we talk about how we can support people who have become victims of a crime. A victim is someone who was hurt or affected by the crime.

This week is all about making sure that victims get the help they need to feel better. They have the right to feel safe and to get the help they need like medical treatment or counseling.

We want to make sure that nobody has to be a victim of a crime, but if they are, we want to make sure that they are taken care of and treated with respect. It's important to be kind and help others, especially when they are going through a difficult time.
