ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Croat–Bosniak War

So imagine you're playing with your friend and you both have different toys. You want to play with your toy but your friend wants to play with your toy too. You both start arguing over who gets to play with it and it turns into a big fight.

That's kind of what happened in the Croat-Bosniak War. In a part of Europe called Bosnia and Herzegovina, two groups of people - the Croats and the Bosniaks - lived together. They each had their own traditions and ways of doing things.

But just like with the toy, they started to argue over who got to control certain parts of the place they lived in. The argument turned into a big fight that lasted from 1992 to 1994.

Lots of people got hurt and homes were destroyed. It was a really sad and scary time for everyone involved.

Thankfully, eventually the fighting stopped and people started working together to make things better. While there are still some disagreements between the Croats and Bosniaks today, they are trying their best to live peacefully together.
