ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Crowned republic

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of a kingdom, where there is a king or queen who rules the country? Well, a crowned republic is a little bit like that, but with some differences.

In a crowned republic, instead of having a king or queen, there is a president who is elected by the people. This president is the head of the country, just like a king or queen would be in a kingdom. But here's the cool part: the president also wears a crown! However, this crown is not made of gold and jewels like a king or queen's crown would be. It's actually just a symbol of their authority as the leader of the country.

So why would a country choose to have a crowned republic instead of a regular republic or a kingdom? Well, it's really about tradition and culture. Some countries have a long history of crowning their leaders, and they want to keep that tradition alive even if they have moved away from having a monarch ruling their country.

Does that make sense, kiddo?
