Cruelty means to be deliberately mean and unkind to someone or something. It means being mean without a good reason. Cruelty can be physical (hitting, pushing or taking things away) or it can be verbal (name-calling, teasing or threatening). Sometimes people are cruel because they are angry or frustrated, or because they don't understand the consequences of their words or actions. Cruelty is never okay and can make people who experience it feel scared, sad, and alone.
