Cry1Ac

Okay kiddo, so do you remember that bugs can sometimes eat all of our crops, and we don't want that to happen? Well, sometimes we use something called cry1ac to stop them. Cry1ac is a special type of protein that is made by some bacteria. When bugs eat plants that have been treated with cry1ac, the protein goes into their stomachs and makes them feel sick. It's kind of like when you eat a food that doesn't agree with your tummy and you feel yucky. The bugs stop eating the plants and eventually die, so we can protect our crops and have enough food to eat. Isn't that cool?
