ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cryobiology

Cryobiology is a science that studies how very cold temperatures affect living things. It's especially important for medical treatments that involve freezing and thawing tissues and organs. When someone needs a new organ to replace a damaged one, like a kidney, surgeons often use cryobiology to keep the donor organ frozen and safe until it is ready to be transplanted. Cryobiology can also be used to keep cells and tissues frozen and usable for medical research.
