Cryptozoology

Cryptozoology is the study of animals that have not been scientifically proven to exist. It is like detective work, except the detectives are scientists who research old tales and folktales from around the world to try to discover if these mythical creatures might actually exist. Some famous examples of cryptids (animals that cryptozoologists study) are Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, and Chupacabras. Cryptozoologists study old stories, look for evidence like tracks and footprints, and even look at pictures to help them try to find out if these creatures might still be alive.
