Cuban Thaw

The Cuban Thaw was when the United States (U.S.) and Cuba, two countries that had been enemies for more than 50 years, decided to start being friends again. In December 2014, U.S. President Barack Obama and Cuban President Raúl Castro announced that they wanted to move forward in improving their friendship and understanding. The Cuban Thaw included decisions such as restoring full diplomatic relations, allowing for more travel between the two countries and trading more benefits, such as food and medicines, between the two countries. The Cuban Thaw brought much needed change to the relationship between the U.S. and Cuba, allowing them to start a new, more peaceful chapter in how they work together, and how they understand each other.
