Cupstone

A cupstone is a kind of stone that people used a long time ago to grind up other things, like nuts or seeds. It looks like a big, round rock with a little dent, or cup, in the middle of it. People would put the thing they wanted to grind into the little cup, and then they would use another stone called a pestle to crush it up into tiny pieces. Imagine you are playing with blocks and you need to make them into little pieces. You could use a big, heavy block with a little cup in it and a smaller block to hit it and smash the other block into tiny pieces. That's kind of what a cupstone is - a tool to help you smash things up so you can use them for other things!
