Cyberwarfare is a type of warfare that uses computers to try and damage the systems of another country, organization, or person. In the United States, cyberwarfare is used to protect computers from outside attack and to try and disrupt the operations of an enemy. For example, in 2020, the US Government launched cyberattacks against Russian government networks in response to Russian interference in the US Presidential Election. Cyberattacks can involve hacking into networks and stealing information, shutting down servers and networks, or planting malicious computer programs to disrupt an organization's operations. The US Government works to protect the country and its citizens from cyberwar attacks and regularly updates its cyber defenses to stay ahead of any potential threats.
