Cymbal choke

Okay kiddo, so you know what cymbals are, right? They're those shiny metal plates that make that "ting" sound when you hit them. Now, sometimes when you hit a cymbal really hard, it keeps ringing for a long time and can be kinda annoying. That's where the cymbal choke comes in!

Basically, a cymbal choke is when you grab the edge of the cymbal with your hand or stick immediately after hitting it. This causes the sound to stop abruptly, like turning off a light switch. It's kind of like hitting the mute button on your TV to make the sound stop.

Why would you want to do this, you ask? Well, sometimes in music, you want a quick and sharp ending to a cymbal sound, instead of it ringing out for a long time. Plus, it can add a cool effect to a song and add to the rhythm and dynamics of the music.

So there you have it, a cymbal choke is when you stop the sound of a cymbal by grabbing it after hitting it. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!
