ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cytoplasmic determinant

Okay, so you know how when you were very very tiny, you were just one cell inside your mommy's tummy, right? And then, that one cell started growing and dividing into more cells, and eventually turned into you!

Now, inside that one tiny cell, there were little things called "cytoplasmic determinants". These are like special instructions that tell the cell what to do, like a recipe for making a cake. They tell the cell how to grow and what to turn into - like what parts of your body would be your arms, legs, and all the other things that make you look like you!

So these cytoplasmic determinants are really important in helping your cells know what to do, so you can grow up strong and healthy. And scientists think that they're also really important in helping animals and plants grow and develop properly, too!
