ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

DI unit

Okay, so you know how we need water to drink, right? But sometimes, the water that comes out of the taps or from the ground is not very clean or safe to drink. This is where a DI unit comes in.

DI stands for deionization, which means it takes out all the impurities and minerals from the water so that it's just clean H2O molecules. It's like filtering water through a strainer so that all the little bits of dirt and rocks are left behind.

The DI unit does this by using special filters that remove all the minerals and impurities from the water. It's kind of like a big puzzle where the water molecules have to fit through tiny spaces in the filter, but the minerals and impurities are too big to fit.

After going through the DI unit, the water is now super clean and safe to drink. This is important for places like labs or aquariums where they need really pure water for experiments or for fish to live in.

So, in simple terms, a DI unit is like a super-fancy water filter that makes our water really clean and healthy to drink!
