ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Dance belt

A dance belt is a special type of underwear that male dancers wear when they perform. It may look a bit like a regular jockstrap, but it is designed to provide dancers with support and prevent any uncomfortable moments on stage. Basically, it is like a pair of briefs with a thong-style back that fits snugly against the skin.

Dancers wear a dance belt because most dance costumes are tight and revealing, and regular underwear would create unwanted lines and bulges. The tight fit of the dance belt helps to keep everything in place and minimize any visible distractions while performing. Additionally, a dance belt can protect sensitive areas from rubbing or chafing against clothing during intense dance moves.

So, if you ever see a male dancer on stage and wonder what's underneath his costume, it's most likely a dance belt!
