A dane axe is a big, long, heavy axe that was used a long, long time ago in battle. It was so big and heavy that most grown-ups couldn't use it with just one hand. They would have to use both hands to swing it!
The Dane axe was made of strong metal and had a long wooden handle that would help give the person using it more power when they swung it.
People who used dane axes back in the old days believed that the longer handle would help them reach farther and hit harder. They would swing it back and forth to try to knock down their enemies or chop down trees and other things that they needed to cut.
Today, we don't really see anyone using a dane axe anymore. But we use other types of axes for chopping wood, cutting down trees, and doing all sorts of other jobs around the house and yard.
